Collaboration to Track Entrepreneurs in DREAM Venture Labs Program over 6-
month Program.

Boston, MA, November 7, 2023

AgileBrain (f/k/a Leading Indicator Systems), a Boston-based emotional / motivational measurement technology company, and DREAM Venture Labs (a/k/a DREAM), an innovative nonprofit dedicated to empowering refugee and immigrant entrepreneurs through education and mentorship, are announcing a collaborative research study to further understand the emotional and motivational needs that refugee / immigrant entrepreneurs face when arriving in the United States and starting a business.

Grounded in psychology and neuroscience, AgileBrain’s emotional measurement system delivers fast, accurate profiles of peoples’ emotional state, activation level and detailed measures of the emotions activated. AgileBrain’s technology utilizes validated images and rapid exposure to target emotional need areas and filter out cognitive biases that can distort accurate measurement. The technology has been extensively validated, peer-reviewed and field tested. Coaches, consultants and counselors can subscribe to the AgileBrain platform to help their clients’ healing and positive change journeys.

DREAM Venture Labs, based in Boston, is an organization committed to enabling refugees and immigrants to launch and grow their businesses. Central to their approach is a six-month accelerator program where entrepreneurs are matched with university students who intern in various business roles, providing support in marketing, strategy, and more. In addition to hands-on assistance, DREAM facilitates valuable industry connections and hosts a series of educational events aimed at equipping participants with essential entrepreneurial skills and opportunities to network.

“The team at AgileBrain is breaking new ground in the measurement of emotions and motivations,” explained Maria Gorskikh, Founder and Executive Director at DREAM Venture Labs, adding “the refugees / immigrants who participate in our DREAM program are on a journey at many levels. Understanding their emotional / motivational state will be critical in learning to help them during that journey.”

As part of the partnership, the AgileBrain research team will collaborate with DREAM and student facilitators, psychology majors from Boston-area universities, to collect data and communicate findings. The volunteer facilitators will receive training and invaluable experience. “I’m excited to work with these entrepreneurs and student volunteers, said Margot Haglund, an AgileBrain-certified coach, who is supporting the student volunteers, adding “as a psychology major, participating in a field study was an incredibly valuable experience.” The AgileBrain team, led by Dr. Bill Nolen, will analyze aggregated, anonymized study results and anticipates publishing findings in 2024 in collaboration with DREAM. Nolen expressed his enthusiasm for the study, “tracking the emotional journey of these entrepreneurs with a great group of student volunteers should be an invaluable experience for all.”

“Our mission at AgileBrain is to help humans value emotions to drive positive change,” said John Penrose, CEO at AgileBrain, “we can’t think of many populations facing more challenging emotional journeys or more deserving of support than these refugee / immigrant entrepreneurs.”
